About Andrew Maxim
Preface
Writing an "About Me" page is along the lines of putting together a professional resume or CV, you only have a small amount of space to dump in a relatively large amount of information. I am not very good at compressing everything down, nor in determining what other people might consider relevant. I know what I think is important, but it is generally not the same as what others see as important. At least on a resume.
This is the reason that I have once again stopped using a resume and gone back to a Technical Data Sheet format. It is what I prefer to receive from applicants when I am hiring; it gets rid of the sales pitch and just presents data. I like data. If a potential employer does not like data and wants a sales pitch they should be hiring a sales person, not an Information Systems professional. Sounds simple enough to me.
Once again, I digress. For this page, which is all about me (like having an entire website was not enough on its own), I will follow along the lines of technical data sheets: data. Being the smart ass that I am I will add comment where it seems appropriate or just plain fun. So without further adieu...

Professional History: I started in the Information Systems & Technologies profession in 1989. Aside from a brief stint in the United States Navy it is all I have ever done professionally.
Strengths: I am not an encyclopedia of computer technical terms. What I am is very good at anything to do with Information Technologies, provided I am in front of the technology. I take that back. I am absolutely incredible at anything to do with Information Technologies. I am better than you. Work with me for three months and you will agree. If there had been a Greek god of Information Systems and Technologies, I would have a marble statue in Athens. That is how good I am.
Weaknesses: I am a little too modest sometimes.
Personal
Hobbies: Robotics, Computer Programming, SageTV, Home Automation, Building Stuff.
Activities: Scuba (on rare occasion. I need a little extra free spending cash and a dive buddy with a boat), Yoga, Tai chi chuan. I would love to take Hapkido classes at some point (see Scuba).
Badges: View My Science Scout Badges Here
Languages: English. Trying to learn Japanese.
Clubs & Affiliations: mensa
Turn Ons: Learning
Turn Offs: Ignorance
Miscellaneous: I am in almost complete agreement with the “truth”, with the exception of global warming being all our fault (it's not) and that whole Whiskey versus Gin thing (Rum is better than both).
Epilogue
I will add more information as I think of it or as it become relevant.
